Interesting… but I don’t see Clapton playing one

Monday, January 18th, 2010

The jury’s still out as to whether we want one… or will stick with the “boring old strings” of our usual guitars.

One political cause we can all get behind.

Right, so Joe’s the winner of this year’s The X Factor and his cover of the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus song “The Climb” is odds on favourite to be Christmas Number One.

Or not… if the 707,390 (plus us) members of a Facebook Group have anything to do with it. We’ll all be buying copies of Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the name of”.

Warped Muppet genius

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Maybe you have to be of a certain age – mid to late 30s or above – to maintain a soft spot for the Muppets when you’re well into your adult life.

Or maybe quality endures? ;-)

Whichever, as soon as we saw the latest Muppets music video – we knew we had to share.

Get the hair right man!

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

At Co-Op Towers we’re big fans of Guitar Hero – strapping on our plastic guitars and strutting our stuff. Even the actual guitarists in the team enjoy pretending to be their favourite, er, guitar heroes.

So we’re awaiting the next installment – LEGO Rock Band – with bated breath.

The Inquisitr is reporting that Brian May of Queen made one demand of his LEGO character – his famous hair had to be right. He said: “I think my LEGO character is wonderful. I want one. We had discussions about the hair, there were a few emails. They had to negotiate to use my likeness, but it’s a nice thing.”

Is it just us who think being re-created in (virtual) LEGO is possibly the single coolest thing in the world?

The game is released in the UK on November 27th. Maybe we’ll have tired of The Beatles: Rock Band by then?

Old skool

Whilst rummaging through some cupboards, we found our old trusty office tape deck – long since left to gather dust as we built the ultimate iTunes server (digital is the future after all!).

Oh the fun we’ve had. Because we have something of a mini recording studio in the office – put to use every week for Ross FM – it was a simple job to plug it in and pump some retro sounds.

Albums we’ve not heard in 20 years.

Recordings of the top 40 from 1983 – complete with squelching noise when the person recording it attempted to pause recording before the DJ began talking again.

And more cheese than a French dairy farm.

Happy times.

Guns ‘n’ Roses – dance remix!

Yes, we thought it would be atrocious too…

Being regular last.fm users, we get given free MP3 tracks the system thinks we might like and – surprisingly – most of them are pretty damn good.

Such as this – a dance remix of “Welcome to the jungle” by Guns ‘n’ Roses. Allows you to shake your booty whilst kicking ass (Is that physically possible? – Ed).

Listen to Guns ‘n’ Roses “Welcome to the jungle (Jells Mayhem’s Serpentine Edit)”.
